Rock Creek Velo is dedicated to promoting and supporting athletes in bicycle racing

The   Rock Creek Velo   junior program is a year round cycling racing program. Our junior team has over 50 junior cyclists that compete in road races, criteriums, time trials, cyclocross and mountain bike races. Our primary training occurs in Bethesda and Chevy Chase and is made up of members from Washington DC, Bethesda, Silver Spring, Rockville, Potomac, Gaithersburg, Chevy Chase and Olney. When it gets cold, we go inside and spin at the Bethesda Sport and Health.  There we add myofascial release, stretching, core and plyometrics regimens that are focused on cycling.  We are a race team, so we focus on the skills that are required to race namely bike handling, riding in a peloton as well at the aerobic and anaerobic conditioning required for cycling. Rock Creek Vela's niche in the DC cycling world is to include those women specifically interested in competing in time trials, triathlons and cyclocross races. Though a member might want to race road races and criteriums, our emphasis is on the former.
